Ideal Bodyweight Calculator
How it works
This inverts the BMI formula: for a target BMI, your weight is BMI × height(m)². The healthy range spans BMI 18.5 to 24.9, shown in kilograms, pounds and stone.
Because it’s BMI-based, it can’t tell muscle from fat and doesn’t account for frame size — use it as a sensible range to aim at, not a single “correct” number.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I weigh for my height?+
A common guide is the weight range that keeps your BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 for your height. Enter your height above to see that range in kilograms, pounds and stone.
How is ideal body weight calculated?+
This tool works BMI backwards: for a target BMI, your weight is BMI × your height in metres squared. Older clinical formulas (Devine, Robinson, Hamwi) also exist, but they were built for medication dosing rather than health targets.
Is there one 'correct' weight for me?+
No. Healthy weight is a range, not a single number, and it doesn't account for muscle mass or frame size. Treat the result as a sensible target zone, not a verdict.
How do I reach my goal weight?+
Set the goal, then hold a small daily calorie deficit or surplus to move toward it. Flun logs your food automatically and tracks your weight trend so you can see progress without manual counting.
